As a Christian there are a number of things you will have to do to ensure that you develop a deep and healthy relationship with God:
1. Get a Bible
There are many versions and styles to choose from. The most popular ones include, the King James, New King James, the New International Version, Living Bible and the Good News Bible. Choose one which you feel is comfortable to read and which has a concordance at the back. A concordance will help you to look up words and verses related to your topic of study. Some bibles also have a dictionary. If you travel a lot you may want to invest in the Bible on CD. You can load it onto your mp3 player. Use a daily bible reading resource such as UCB’s Word For Today or Daily Bread.
2. Pray and Study the bible
Spend time each day to talk to God and to hear from Him as you spend time studying the word of God. Nothing is as rewarding, refreshing and resourcing as starting your day with a bible reading! . Set a special time and place which will help you develop a routine.
3. Find a Church
It is important to meet and build relationships with other born again Christians in order to support one another and grow in the things of God. It is worth noting that the Church is not full of perfect people, but mostly those who recognise the need for Christ in their lives. Find a Bible believing Church which uses the pure Word of God as the basis for all its activities. If you are in the area, why not visit us at Tabernacle of Praise Church where a warm welcome awaits you?
4. Get Involved
Initially, you may feel out of joint within the group of fellow Christians. Learn how your church operates. If you see an area of need in your church that lies within your talents, then get involved. This way you will live an effective Christian life.
